# CompanySpec pricing

Pay once per company. Everything about it is included.

Plans include two monthly allowances: lookups for companies you name, and discoveries for companies we find for you. Each company is charged at most once per billing month; after that, every request about it is free.

## How billing works

1. **You name a company.** Get a company, enrich a list or fetch any of its data by domain or id. The first time this billing month, it uses 1 lookup.
2. **We find a company for you.** Search, lookalikes, page search, vendor customers and job search. Each company returned uses 1 discovery the first time this billing month.
3. **Everything else about it is free.** For the rest of your billing month, every request about that company costs nothing, whether it was a lookup or a discovery.

## FAQ

### What is a lookup?

A company you name, by domain or id: getting its profile, enriching it, or fetching any of its data. The first request about a company in your billing month uses 1 lookup; later requests about it that month are free.

### What is a discovery?

A company that our search, lookalikes, page search, vendor customers or job search finds for you. Each company returned uses 1 discovery the first time it appears in your billing month.

### If search found a company, does looking it up later cost a lookup?

No. Once a company is paid for in either allowance, everything about it is free for the rest of your billing month.

### What is included once a company is paid for?

Its profile, ICP, pricing summary, page summaries, technologies, vendors, headcount, recent hires, funding, news and all its job postings, as often as you like until your billing month ends.

### Does a page of 25 search results use 25 discoveries?

Yes, one for each company returned that you haven’t already paid for this month. Count first for free, and set limit and min_score to control how many you get.

### Are counts really free?

Yes. Counting how many companies match a search never uses an allowance. Counts have their own rate limit: 30 per minute, and 500 per day on the Free plan.

### Do I pay for empty results or companies you can’t find?

No. Requests that return nothing and 404s are never charged.

### What happens when I reach my limit?

You get as many companies as your remaining allowance covers, and then requests that need that allowance pause until your next billing month. Companies you’ve already paid for stay free, and the other allowance keeps working. Upgrade at any time to continue straight away. You are never billed overage.

### Do unused lookups or discoveries roll over?

No. Allowances reset at the start of each billing month.

### When does my billing month start?

On the day your plan started, and it renews monthly. Your dashboard and GET /account show the current billing month’s start and end.

### Can I upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time?

Yes. Upgrades apply straight away. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of your billing month.

### Is there a free plan? Do I need a credit card?

Yes, the Free plan includes 50 lookups and 10 discoveries a month, and you don’t need a credit card.

### Do you offer annual billing or invoices?

Not on the self-serve plans yet. For annual billing or invoices, talk to us about a Custom plan at support@companyspec.com.

### Can my team share a plan?

Yes. Create as many API keys as you need; they all share your account’s allowances, and a company paid for with one key is free with the others.

### Can I use the data in my own product?

Self-serve plans are for use inside your business, including in your own tools and agents. Reselling the data or redistributing it to your customers needs a data licence on a Custom plan. See the Terms.

### Will the MCP server cost extra?

No. When it launches it will use the same plans and allowances, and repeat questions about a company you’ve already paid for will be free.
